About Me

My career in Psychology began in 2002 working in a Family Intervention in Psychosis Service in the NHS. I have more than 18 years experience working as a psychologist. My clinical experience includes NHS, statutory, and private sector work in the field of psychological assessment and treatment with adults, children and their families, across health, education, social care, and legal settings. I have a great passion for working psychologically with others, to inform, educate, and empower.

My work as a Clinical Psychologist

The extent of the clinical training and experience I have means I can apply knowledge and expertise to helping people who experience a range of psychological difficulties. I work in a flexible and responsive way that is driven by the principles, aims and ethics of my profession. I continue to work clinically at a medical practice, where I am Clinical Lead for Mental Health, and the practice Safeguarding Lead.

ASSESSMENT
My work always begins with a robust assessment, I use a combination of methods to obtain a comprehensive understanding (including psychometric testing where relevant) of how past and present factors contribute to the development of psychological disorders. Upon the conclusion of this assessment, I utilise a range of psychological interventions that are well evidenced, clinically proven, in line with national treatment guidelines, and suited to the individual profile and problem.

CLINICAL TREATMENTS
Clinically I work with people to address a range of problems including anxiety, depression, panic disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, sleep difficulties, self-esteem, assertiveness, body image, personality difficulties, and emotional functioning. I also have specialist skills in assessing, diagnosing, and managing Neuro-developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, and Learning Disability.

EXPERT WITNESS
I have worked with the Family Courts since 2008, assessing parents and children in Public and Private Law proceedings. This work has included psychological assessment, risk assessment, cognitive and capacity assessments. As well as assessment I have provided treatment planning for children and their parents who have complex needs.

TEACHING & SUPERVISION
In addition to my clinical and expert witness career, I have also been a guest lecturer on the Oxford Doctoral Course in Clinical Psychology, at the University of Oxford. I have undertaken British Psychological Society approved Clinical Supervision Training and provide supervision to other Clinical Psychologists and Therapists.

PRESS & MEDIA
As a Clinical Psychologist I am qualified and able to share complex psychological concepts, discussing them in a way that helps make them more relevant and personalised to people – I have worked with the press in provding this type of information for the public.
