What I Do
I help children and adults, who struggle with psychological problems and mental illness, to achieve their treatment goals, by using highly researched, clinically proven, evidence based treatment methods.
In line with clinical psychology philosophy, I aim to integrate science, psychological theory, and clinical knowledge to my everyday practice of helping others. There are more people that need help than the health systems can cope with. I have the ultimate aim of making this help accessible to as many people as possible, by spreading the work I do through my articles.
As a Clinical Psychologist I have a different take compared with most other therapist out there. I take a highly practical and solution-oriented approach, to help people help themselves, using high quality evidence-based interventions that are proven to work. I have worked with people from all backgrounds, and have treated human problems that are common to so many of us. I teach people to cope with stressful situations, and break through barriers that keep them from reaching their potential. So many people have benefited from my work, in learning how to use clinical psychology skills to live a full life, by mastering their inner psychology.
Mental health problems are invisible, but can feel just as bad, or even worse than physical illness. I aim to reduce psychological distress, as well as enhance and promote psychological well-being. By helping people deal with a range of mental health problems including anxiety, depression, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post‑traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, sleep difficulties, self-esteem, assertiveness, body acceptance, and emotional intelligence. Around one in four people are affected by common mental health problems.
I work face to face in clinical practice with children and adults, to understand, prevent, and relieve psychologically based distress and dysfunction, as well as to promote well-being and personal development. You see me at the Oxford Medical Practice, located in the Summertown area of North Oxford. Please contact the clinic during office hours on 01865 423425, all calls are handled with strict confidentiality and professionalism.
I see both children and adults in my neuro-psychological clinic. Where I assess and diagnose conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorders (including Asperger’s Syndrome), and ADHD. As well as assessment, I provides therapeutic treatment interventions for a range of psychological problems that co-occur with neuro-psychological conditions. You see me at the Oxford ADHD Centre, based in the Headington area of Oxford. To discuss your needs further, and to make an appointment please phone 01865 744144.
Many of my patients (and non-patients) download resources and articles from my site, and read my blog for everyday clinical psychology techniques. In many of these I show you how to focus on getting from problem A to solution B, by mastering certain skills. Sounds easier said than done, right? Especially if you feel that no matter what you do things just don’t seem to get better. I believe that change is possible, but you need the right way to go about it. Using psychology to focus on what actually works, could give you the confidence to believe it is possible.
