When we processes your personal data, we are required to comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and the UK GDPR (the DPA and UK GDPR are together referred to as the Data Protection Legislation. The type of personal information we may hold on our patients
If you are a patient, your personal data includes all the information we hold that identifies you or is about you, for example, your name, email address, postal address, date of birth, as well as special categories of data, including but not limited to, mental health information, your religious beliefs, ethnic origin, race, sexual orientation, political views, and payment data. All this information is provided to us directly by you. 

How we get the personal information and why we have it
We process your personal data in order to provide you with the services or information you have requested. The personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • You have signed up to newsletter updates, waiting list updates, or other information/marketing updates as shown on this website. Or you have sent an email query via the contact form, or directly. We use the information that you have given us in order to respond to your query, or add your details to the requested mailing lists.
  • You are a patient of Dr Kirren

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

We process your information on these grounds to be able to provide you with information, newsletters, marketing, healthcare appointments, processing for the provision of health or social care or treatment or the management of health or social care systems or services.

If we obtain consent from you to process your personal data, you can withdraw your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting admin@drschnack.com 

If you do not want us to contact you for newsletter or marketing purposes, please let us know by clicking the “Unsubscribe” option in any email we send to you. You can also contact us by emial via: admin@drschnack.com and we will take steps to ensure that this information is deleted as soon as possible.

Who do we share your personal data with?
For non-patients we do not share the information you provide with any other organisations or individuals seperate and unrelated to Dr Kirren. 

If you are a patient we only transfer your personal data to the extent we absolutely need to. Recipients of your personal data may include healthcare professionals directly involved in your care such as specialists to whom you have requested a referral, or information sharing. This may also include your GP if you’ve requested that we contact them. We aim to communicate confidentially, using secure email systems, and may also use phonecalls to communicate with the service providers involved in your care.

In exceptional circumstance we may need to share information with statutory organisations, or emergency services. This includes situations where a person is considered to be a danger to themselves or others, or where there are safguarding concerns about a child or an adult, or when required to do so by a court order. 

How we store your personal information
If you are a patient we will retain your personal data for 6 years from the point of your last transaction with us, in case a contract claim arises, or for as long as required for medical and health records as defined by UK law (whichever is longer). Your information will be kept securely at all times. Following the end of the relevant retention period, your personal data covered by the retention period will be permanently deleted or destroyed.

Your data protection rights
You benefit from a number of rights in respect of the personal data we hold about you. These rights apply for the period in which we process your data. Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances this may include:

  • Where we no longer need your personal data for the purpose for which we collected it.
  • Where we have collected your personal data on the grounds of consent and you withdraw that consent.
  • Where you object to the processing, and we do not have any overriding legitimate interests to continue processing the data.
  • Where we have unlawfully processed your personal data (i.e. we have failed to comply with UK GDPR).
  • Where the personal data has to be deleted to comply with a legal obligation.

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing – You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
